Wynton Marsalis

Wynton Marsalis was born in New Orleans, where his pop, Ellis Marsalis, is a well-regarded jazz pianist and teacher. His bros Branford and Delfeo are also important musicians. Wynton received his first trumpet at age 6, and played in public at age 7, but didn't start to study seriously till he was twelve. At fourteen, he made his debut with the New Orleans Philharmonic.

 

The Lonious Monk

Thelonious Priest isn't sometimes considered a "bebop" piano player, but was a part of that little but select group of jazz musicians who were responsible for the arrival of a new sort of jazz in the early 1940's, which was at the time called bebop. In his kids he met Mary Lou Williams, a fine jazz pianist who changed into a lifetime pal and a major inspiration.

   

Nat King Cole

Born : March seventeen, 1919 Died : Feb fifteen, 1965 Nat King Cole was one of the most well liked vocalists ever to hit the North American charts. A brilliant recording and concert artist in the 40's, 50's and 60's, he attracted millions of fans around the globe with a delicate and caressing singing voice that was unmistakable.
